00:01
Plenty of people feel anxiety when they go to any kind of doctor's office.
00:06
Now it may for them be any kind or maybe a specific kind or two that they really just don't like.
00:11
And this type of anxiety can come from multiple different places and it's usually some combination thereof.
00:17
So it can be just their own general fear that they have.
00:22
Fear of the unknown, fear of, you know, the people, the treatment, just a general fear that they have whether or not it's founded.
00:30
Now if it is founded, then it's generally going to be coming from some kind of bad experiences.
00:40
So maybe they've gone to a dentist in the past or some other kind of doctor in the past that just really did not go well for them for whatever reason.
00:51
And so those bad experiences they carry around can produce anxiety.
00:54
It might also be something that they pick up because of a family or friend.
01:05
Perhaps their mom or their dad is afraid of going to the dentist.
01:10
And so as a kid, they grew up seeing that fear and they've internalized it and made it their own.
01:16
Whether or not they have their own bad experiences, they see, oh, my dad doesn't like it and so it must be scary, right? so especially if they catch that early on in childhood.
01:27
This can also come from a fear of certain pains or procedures that they know can happen at that particular doctor's office.
01:42
Maybe they're afraid of a root canal or they're afraid of being told that they have to go in for a surgery of some kind, right? but knowing that that's a potential can cause a lot of fear.
01:54
There also might be a fear because of the amount of money or the potential lack of insurance that the person has, right? you don't want to go somewhere if it's going to cost you everything or it's going to cost you your ability to pay your bills or if you know that your insurance just won't cover it or if you don't have any and there's going to be lots of questions.
02:16
Causes lots of anxiety.
02:17
It might also be that they're afraid of their own body, what's going to happen to them and their appearance or their functionality...
