Bob and his wife were soon going to have their first baby. Bob's wife was upstairs trying out wallpaper samples for the baby's room. Bob was downstairs watching TV. His wife yells down the stairs requesting for Bob to come up and look at the choice she had made. He wanted to be a good husband, so he walked upstairs, repeating to himself the request she was making. "She wants to know what I think of the wallpaper." He enters the room, and she says (holding a sample against the wall), "What do you think? Do you like it?" He says, "No, I don't." She looks tearful and deflated for a moment…then angry…then throws the sample at him and walks away. Bob's wife was making the first choice of her motherhood, and she was feeling nervous and anxious about whether she'd even make a good mom. In her mind, her question was about whether Bob thought she was capable of being a good mom. Both Sinek and Chapman use the example to discuss empathic listening and the importance of listening beyond the content of the message for the motivation behind what's being said. Bob's wife was hoping he would say something that confirmed her ability to be a good mom and maybe share his excitement about the baby coming soon. Of course, Bob had no idea this was in her head, and he was completely befuddled and upset by her angry response. Of the six types of conflict explained in the text, what type is this? Explain. Whose "fault" is this fight? Should he have been a better listener? Or should she have better communicated what she really needed? Whose responsibility is it to manage this conflict? Explain your thoughts on this. It is really interesting to see all the different perspectives on this.

Identify and describe a causal confusion that may be exemplified in the following passage. Yasir and Tamara were the happiest couple I knew until after Tamara decided to go back to school to "get a job." She already had a "job" taking care of the house, and it's her delusions of grandeur that messed everything up.
