00:01 All right, so this problem is telling me that there's this chef who has 15 and a half cups of sugar, right? and he knows that to make one cake, it will take him take one and three fourths cups of sugar.
00:14 And he's trying to figure out how many cakes can he make? okay.
00:17 So again, this is a division problem.
00:19 Basically, we're going to do 15 and a half, divide that by one and three fourth.
00:26 So the first thing i need to do is i need to change these into improper fractions.
00:30 Okay.
00:30 So if the denominator is 2, it's going to stay 2.
00:36 2 times 15 is 30, plus 1 more is 31, divided by here my denominator is 4.
00:47 So it's going to stay 4.
00:48 So 4 times 1 is 4 plus 3 more is 7.
00:53 All right.
00:54 Next, when i want to solve a division problem with fractions, the rule is i'm going to leave the first fraction alone.
01:04 I'm changing this to multiplication.
01:06 And i'm going to take the reciprocal of this one.
01:09 That means i'm just going to flip it over...
