Case study background: Mr. Lopez is a special education teacher who works with high school students with various learning and developmental dissabilities. He recognizes that while his studnenta receive academic instruction life skills that will help them become more independent in their daily lives. Mr Lopez decides to implement a skills program that focuses on practical skills like communication, personal hygiene, time management and basic money handling.
To make the lessons engaging and rwlwvant, Mr Lopez creates a simulated environment called "Life Skills City" in the classroom. In this set up, different stations represents various real life scenarios, such as a grocery store, a bank, a kitchen, through the stations, practicing tasks at each one with guidance from Mr. Lopez and teaching assistant.
