Hi, could someone explain to me the steps I should take to solve the following problem. If radius BE is a perpendicular bisector of chord AC, then what is AB to the nearest tenth? BD is 7cm and DC is 9.
Added by Matthew R.
Step 1
Draw a diagram: Draw a circle with center O, and draw chord AC. Draw radius BE perpendicular to AC and bisecting it at point M. Label BD as 7cm and DC as 9cm. Show more…

Tangents of a Circle In the diagram, FG is tangent to the circle at point G. GH is the diameter, CJ = 5 mm, FG = 7 mm, and ΔCGJ is an equilateral triangle. a) What is the length of the diameter? Justify your answer. b) Is ΔGHJ a right triangle? Justify your answer. c) What is the length of chord HJ? Explain your reasoning. Express your answer to the nearest tenth of a millimeter. d) What is the measure of ∠FGH? Justify your answer. e) What is the length of FH? Explain your reasoning. Express your answer to the nearest tenth of a millimeter.
