If you were asked by a family member to explain the field of public health, how would you do so? Explain how public health relates to individuals' lives, and what role social determinants of health and health equity play in our overall well-being. A local high school with a student body that is diverse in ethnicity, race, sexual preference, gender identity, and SES is dealing with an increased incidence of eating disorders among its students. What is the negative health behavior in this situation? How might you try to change this health behavior utilizing evidence-based practice - a health education program, a Public Service Announcement, policy or regulation, etc.? Explain how and why utilizing concepts and themes from class. How might your approach vary depending on the particular student population you are targeting?
