Please neatly show all of your work and include the code you use as well as the graph that is produced. Thank you! :)
1. Maxwell-Boltzmann Distribution
a) [7pt] Write a code or use your software to plot the Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution of H atoms at T = 5000 K and 20,000 K in a single plot. Note that your x-axis is v, velocity, in the range of 0 to 4 x 10^4 m/s and the y-axis is ny/n, the ratio of the number of atoms with a velocity of v vs the total number of atoms. Use blue for the T = 5000 K curve and red for the T = 20,000 K curve (2pt). Also, label your figure legend and axes (5pt). Submit your code with your plot.
b) [2pt] Describe how the peaks compare and the widths/shapes of the curves change for T = 5000 K and T = 20,000 K. So, in general, when the temperature increases, what would you expect the velocity distribution of particles, in terms of the peak and the width, to change?
[4pt] Find the most probable velocity and the RMS velocity for H atoms at 5000 K and 20,000 K. You can either write a code or simply use your calculator to find the answers.
