So in this lecture, we're going to look very briefly at thomas and chess's temperament theory.

It's a theory about temperament, as we described in other units.

A temperament is basically a base way in which human beings engage their environment, behave, and react emotionally to situations.

So it's the foundations of what becomes someone's personality.

And many psychologists believe it's either biologically based or at least emerges from how the, the physiological predisposition and the environment interact with one another.

Well, thomas and chess's temperament theory is well known because they believe that you can, for the most part, easily categorize about 65 % of the babies out there into three temperament categories.

And what are those temperament categories? well, the first one is easy children, right? that's about 40 % of the babies that you encounter.

And these are happy most of the time.
