Text: Culture and Softball This discussion is based on the following videos: Gung Ho A 1986 comedy in which a Japanese company takes over a failed American auto plant. The foreman, played by Michael Keaton, does everything he can to trick the American workers into compliance with Japanese stern rules, but the culture clash is great. My Big Fat Greek Wedding A 2002 comedy about a woman from a traditional Greek family who plans to marry a non-Greek man. Again, the culture clash between the families is great. Watch both scenes and discuss how the clips illustrate the psychology of each culture. Include differences in culture and topics such as analytic and holistic thinking, fundamental attribution error, implicit and explicit communication, and individualist and collectivist culture. Give supporting examples from class readings and at least one outside scholarly article.
