Author and researcher Robert Cialdini is one of the world's leading authorities when it comes to influence. As future managers and OB practitioners, you should gain as much knowledge about influencing others as you can. The goal of this activity is to challenge your knowledge of the six principles proposed by Cialdini. Read each person's scenario and match it to the principle of persuasion that the scenario best represents. 1. Authority 2. Reciprocity 3. Scarcity 4. Liking 5. Social proof 6. Consistency Pam asks her employees to give her some form of acknowledgement and commitment when she gives them a new task to complete. Lisa always tries to notice what someone is wearing and comment on it. Colleen hangs her university degrees on her wall—she worked hard for them! Mike gets along well with all of his employees. There are a few that he will let in on things to come before others know about it. Cheryl tends to be really nice to her workers. It seems like everyone in her department gets along well with each other. George has a couple of knowledgeable employees who he likes to run things by a few days before bringing it up to the rest of the department. He likes to get them on board first.
