View Policies Current Attempt in Progress Suppose that the makers of M\&M's claim that 24\% of their Milk Chocolate M\&M's are blue. Assume that Fun-Size bags of Milk Chocolate M\&M's hold 20 candies. Find the standard error of the distribution of sample proportions of blue candies for Fun-Size bags (i.e., samples of size 20). Use four decimal places when reporting the standard error. eTextbook and Media Save for Later Attempts: 0 of 5 used Submit Answer

An advertiser claims that the average percentage of brown M&M'S candies in a package of milk chocolate M&M'S is 12%. Suppose you randomly select a package of milk chocolate M&M'S that contains 51 candies and determine the proportion of brown candies in the package. (a) What is the approximate distribution of the sample proportion of brown candies in a package that contains 51 candies? (b) What is the probability that the sample percentage of brown candies is less than 22%? (Round your answer to four decimal places.) (c) What is the probability that the sample percentage exceeds 33%? (Round your answer to four decimal places.) (d) Within what range would you expect the sample proportion to lie about 95% of the time? (Round your answers to two decimal places.)

According to the M&M’s website, the distribution of the colors of Milk Chocolate M&M’s should be 24% blue, 14% brown, 16% green, 20% orange, 13% red, and 14% yellow. In fun-size packs distributed on the first day of a class, the total number of M&M’s was 992. Out of that number, the total number of blue M&M’s was 225. Find the sample proportion of milk chocolate M&M’s that are blue. Construct a 95% confidence interval for the proportion of blue M&M’s in the milk chocolate variety. Show the calculation of the margin of error. Show the confidence interval that you obtain. Do your results agree with the website’s claim, i.e. does your confidence interval contain the proportion stated by the M&M company of 24% blue? Carry out a hypothesis test to determine whether the proportion of blue M&M’s is different from the value stated on the website. Show the hypotheses, the test statistic, and the p-value, with all supporting work. State whether or not the null is rejected. State a final conclusion, in context. Use a level of significance of 0.05.

MEMs claims that 10% of the M&Ms it produces are green. For a sample of 200 M&Ms, suppose we randomly pick a bag. Suppose that the candies are packaged at random in large bags. We wish to test the value of the standard error of the sample proportion of green M&Ms in a bag of 200. We assume that this represents Ho: p = 0.10 versus H1: p ≠ 0.10. Under the null hypothesis, what is the value of the large-sample statistic? 0.0015 (b) 0.0212 (c) 0.09 (d) 0.886 (e) 0.2444 (f) 0.887 (g) 0.444.
