Prepare a report on the heating systems available in your area for residential buildings. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each system and compare their initial and operating costs. What are the important factors in the selection of a heating system? Give some guidelines. Identify the conditions under which each heating system would be the best choice in your area.
Size the system shown for iron pipe. The water leaves the boiler at 200°F and has a temperature drop of 20°F. The convectors have a loss given by the equation: Loss (milli-inches) = 0.3 (Btu/hr output). Note: 1 milli-inch = 0.001 in. wg. Assume a 3 ft rise is needed to get to the convectors and then a 3 ft drop to return to the boiler. What head must be developed by the pump and what flow rate (gpm) is required? 11,000 Btu/h 8,000 Btu/h Balancing Valve 10,000 Btu/h 9,000 Btu/h Boiler 7,000 Btu/h 0 6,500 Btu/h 5 10 15 Scale in feet

The temperatures of the forced air (21°C), the hot water (40°C), and the geothermal water/antifreeze loop (12°C). The necessary temperature of the refrigerant when passing through the evaporator is 5 to 10°C. When passing through the hot water heater, it must be between 60 to 70°C. Finally, the refrigerant must be between 45 to 60°C when passing through the forced air system. All of these were taken into consideration when selecting the refrigerant as ammonia. The pressure (using the steam table) has an allowable pressure range of 4.977 bar to 6.152 bar when passing through the evaporator. The pressure range when passing through the compressor outlet, however, has a range of 0.0738 bar to 0.2 bar. Given the following parameters, sketch a T-S diagram that includes the vapor dome, all states of the cycle, isobars, and representative temperatures.
