1. Goals of the website
Write down your website's goals. Ask yourself some questions and note the answers. Ask yourself: What is your website's main goal? What are your website's secondary goals? What do you want people to do when they get to your website? What are the benefits of the product or service that visitors want? Do you want the website to be mobile-friendly? Will more than one person be administering the website? If so, what will they need to access? Will visitors be able to contribute to the site in any way, whether it be commenting?
2. Planning Menu items
Choose menu items and layout. Figure out what menu items (or sections) you would like to appear on your site.
3. Planning Categories
Make your list of categories. Categories can be imagined like buckets. Each article or page is assigned to a category. Categories can have nested categories, or subcategories: buckets inside of buckets.
4. Planning Articles
Make your list of articles (pages).
5. Home Page Layout
Draw out your home page.
6. Internal Page Layout
Draw out your internal page layout.
This is a planning stage submission and must be done in a Word document format.
