Two hosts, one on the East (host A) and one on the west coast (host B) of the USA, are exchanging data. Suppose A is sending a large file to B. The file is split into packets of size 8000 bits. The hosts are using a stop-and-wait protocol. Therefore, A has to wait for an Ack before sending the next packet. They are connected by a 1 Gbps link. Assume that the round trip delay between them is 30 ms. Thus, the packet leaves A, reaches B, and then an acknowledgement leaves B and reaches A. This round-trip takes 30 ms. Calculate the throughput and link utilization.

A packet switch receives a packet and determines the outbound link to which the packet should be forwarded. When the packet arrives, one other packet is halfway done being transmitted on this outbound link and four other packets are waiting to be transmitted. Packets are transmitted in order of arrival. Suppose all packets are 1,500 bytes and the link rate is 2.5 Mbps. What is the queuing delay for the packet? More generally, what is the queuing delay when all packets have length 2L, the transmission rate is R, and x bits of the currently-being-transmitted packet have been transmitted?

00:01 Hello student here, what is the meaning of the bandwidth in a network? so bandwidth refers to the transmission capacity of a communication channel which is the amount of the data that is transmitted.
00:37 So which is amount of data that can be transmitted over a given period of time and it is usually it is measured in bits per second or byte per second.
01:24 So here according to this question the first answer is most appropriate this one the transmission capacity of a communication channel of a bandwidth in a network refers to the transmission capacity of a communication channel.
01:46 So this is the most appropriate answer here.
01:49 Now come to b, connected computer in the network.
01:52 So connected computer is not the meaning of the bandwidth.
01:56 Class of used in network.
02:01 So here class we use in the network but this doesn't refer to the bandwidth.
02:07 Bandwidth is not a class used in network.
02:09 However, different classes of network may have different bandwidth requirements depending on their application and usage...
