"ABC has a sound change management process/policy for program code changes that includes the ability for users to request changes which are entered by users through a web based internally managed portal (CMP). User requests are then electronically routed to the appropriate IT and business personnel for review and approval to proceed to work the request. Once IT completes the coding revisions and performs unit and system testing, then users will test the system changes. Upon satisfactory testing the users will formally approve the movement of code to production using the web-based change portal. Windows version upgrades are processed through a similar development, test and production scenario and comply with the change management policy. However, updates occur in groups of servers over a period of weeks only performed during the weekend downtime window. ABC maintains one version for all Windows servers which allows streamlining of upgrades and ensures consistency throughout the enterprise. All version updates must receive approval from IT management and are considered only an IT process. The user community is not informed of these server upgrades and are considered by ABC as transparent to the user community. what are the controls and what are the gaps?
