So when that happens, a lot of times it depends on the severity of the crime, but there's always going to be an appeals process.

And in this appeals process, three things can happen.

We can have what they call affirmation, which means that they're denied the appeal, basically.

And the conviction stands.

Then the next they can have is a reversal, which means they are no longer found guilty.

So that means that they reverse the decision and they found the person innocent that very rarely happens.

But then we have what's called a remand where they can go and say, okay, we want the lower court to go re -look at the conviction and re -look at the process...
