What is the statistical procedure that is used to determine whether a significant difference exists between any numbers of group means?
Qudsiya A.
A pre-test / post-test design can be analyzed using a paired sample t-test. A one-way ANOVA can compare a maximum of 3 means. For a significant F test, between group variance should be larger than within group variance. Post hoc analysis should always be conducted regardless of whether the omnibus test is significant. Effect size can be calculated regardless of whether the test statistic was significant. Crosstabs and chi-squares are used to analyze categorical data. Main effects and interactions are used to describe results from one-way repeated measures ANOVA. Two independent variables with two levels each will result in a total of 4 conditions. To reject the null hypothesis, the obtained p value must be less than or equal to the alpha. Rejecting the null when in fact it is true is known as Type I error.
