DETERMINATION OF FOCAL LENGTH (f) OF THE CONVEX LENS BY DISPLACEMENT METHOD
APPARATUS: Ray box, convex lens, screen, optical bench, meter rule, 2 lens polder.

First find the rough focal length of the convex lens by focusing any distance object. Then keep the source of light (object) and the screen at a distance equal to or greater than four times the rough focal length of the lens as (D) as shown in figure 3 above.
Find two positions of the lens \( A \) and \( B \) respectively at which clear images are formed on the screen in each case. Determined=(B-A); repeat the experiment for four other values of (D) by increasing (D) in steps of 5.
Knowing that: \( f=\left(D^{2}-d^{2}\right) / 4 D \)
