Let's talk a little bit more about insomnia.

First of all, what is insomnia? well, insomnia is a lot of different things.

It's the most common sleep disorder.

A lot of people actually don't even seek treatment for it.

But it's pretty serious, and it can impact your wakefulness.

It can impact your long -term health.

And so it's important to know what the warning signs of insomnia are.

Some of them are things like difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, and not waking up too early or sorry or it can be waking up before your alarm significantly and consistently so that's one set of things that insomnia can be insomnia also has things like restlessness or frequent wakes throughout the night can also be overall dissatisfaction with sleep and many of these things which to a reduced total sleep time.

So it's important to know that the recommended amount of sleep is on average eight hours as deemed by places like the national sleep foundation and the world health organization, which means that sleep's a little bit different for everyone, but it's anywhere from seven to nine hours per night consistently.

So what factors might contribute to your own problems with insomnia? even if you're a really healthy sleeper, we could all probably stand to be a little bit better.

The way to combat insomnia is something called sleep hygiene.

So while i go through some of the sleep hygiene tips, maybe think to yourself about which area of these could you be working on a little bit more and how this might be contributing to something like insomnia or just dysregulated sleep.

So sleep hygiene is making sure that you have a comfortable room.

So this is things like comfortable sheets, beds, pillows, making sure that it's dark in there, that there's not a lot of sounds, then you have a white noise machine.

It's also making sure you have few or no electronics in your room.
