DRI value Definition The nutrient intake that is estimated to meet the needs of 50% of healthy individuals in a given age and sex. The nutrient intake that is sufficient to meet the needs of nearly all healthy individuals in a given age and sex. A best estimate of the amount of a nutrient that is adequate to meet the needs of most healthy people when there is not sufficient data to determine an EAR (and thus an RDA). Intake ranges as a percent of total calories for energy-yielding macronutrients that are consistent with good health. The highest level of daily nutrient intake that is unlikely to cause adverse effects for nearly all individuals. The average energy intake predicted to maintain current body weight in a healthy adult. The nutrient intake level that is expected to reduce chronic disease risk in a healthy population. Answer Bank Chronic Disease Risk Reduction Intake (CDRR) Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) Adequate Intake (AI) Estimated Energy Requirement (EER) Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range (AMDR) Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) Tolerable Upper Limit (UL)
