00:01
So this question is very much an opinion question.
00:05
So i'm going to be answering this in my personal opinion.
00:11
So when it comes to prostate cancer, the test that is done even now still is the psa test for screening as well as a digital rectal exam.
00:24
And the psa test, as it states here, is not as accurate or, or, or, you know, or the pca3 test is better, as it says, but it's still not widely used.
00:41
So the pca3 test is another prostate screening test, prostate cancer screening test.
00:48
So between the two tests, they want to know, you know, what do we think as far as, is testing still necessary? is the screening necessary? should men be screened? if they're healthy and then in general should people be screened to find out if they have any kind of cancer risk.
01:09
My personal thought is yes, of course we should do screening.
01:13
Of course, people should know whether or not they are at increased risk to have a cancer or not.
01:18
But i know that's not everyone's personal opinion.
01:22
However, we do still do these tests and so i'm going to explain kind of why we do them still.
01:27
So with psa test, even though we're doing it on mostly healthy men, and most of the time, men who do have prostate cancer, the cancer is not really that life -threatening.
01:41
It does develop very slowly, and over time, it takes a really long time for the cancer to become, like, malignant most of the time.
01:50
However, that's not the case for every man.
01:52
So there could be a man with prostate cancer.
01:57
So i'm just kind of put pc for prostate cancer.
02:01
And the cancer could be moving very quickly or it could be moving very slowly.
02:09
It doesn't really matter.
02:10
The question is, should that man have screening? so the question is screening.
02:17
Should they have a psa or should they have a pca 3? so psa, i don't know if anyone knows, but it stands for prostate antigenes.
02:29
And so with that question, i personally think, yes, a man who may have a prostate cancer or any healthy man who is at risk for prostate cancer because all men are at risk for prostate cancer.
02:44
I think there's up to like a 6 to 12 percent risk for prostate cancer within a man's lifetime...
