And this question is essentially getting at structuralism versus functionalism.

So these are two different schools of thought in psychology.

So people who championed structuralism essentially suggested that the goal of psychology as a science should be to study the structure of the brain, the structure of the mind, the structure of consciousness, and essentially its composition.
