This theorist argued that children developed through their experiences and interactions with the world, which help them develop schemas - or basic mental concepts to understand, organize, and think about ideas and objects. He posited that children assimilate new experiences by adding those experiences to existing schema, or accommodate new experiences/information by altering their cognitive schema to better fit the information. This theorist proposed that there were 4 stages of cognitive development: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. a. Lev Vygotsky b. Jean Piaget c.
