If work is a scalar quantity (magnitude only, no directions), then why is it that there is negative work? Recall: negative horizontal velocity (Ex: vx = -2.00 m/s) means directed to the left and negative acceleration due to gravity (Ex: a = -9.8 m/s^2) means directed downwards.
