Digital Frequency Meter
Objective: To implement an electronic instrument for measuring the frequency of a periodic signal, using VHDL hardware description language.
The frequency counter must have a digital display composed of three 7-segment displays to inform the measured frequency. The instrument must be able to measure frequencies in three different scales: Hz, kHz, and MHz as needed and user choice. This should ensure a wider range of frequencies to be measured and improved instrument accuracy.
The unit of measurement used is the hertz (Hz).

The input signal to be measured is obtained by a function generator, an apparatus dedicated to the generation of electrical signals of different frequencies, amplitudes, and waveforms. For this experiment, the instrument should be restricted to measuring signals with a square waveform.
