Write a balanced chemical equation for the incomplete combustion of methane to produce CO(g) as the only carbon-containing product. I got CH4 (g) + 3/2 O2 (g) -> CO (g) + 2H2O (g) but I think the 3/2 part is wrong.

Write the balanced chemical equation for the combustion of methane, CH4(g), to give carbon dioxide and water vapor. Explain why it is difficult to predict whether ΔS is positive or negative for this chemical reaction.

Write the balanced chemical equation for the complete combustion of each of the following: a. methane b. 3-methylpentane
Jennifer H.
Consider the balanced equation for the combustion of methane, a component of natural gas: $$\mathrm{CH}_{4}(g)+2 \mathrm{O}_{2}(g) \longrightarrow \mathrm{CO}_{2}(g)+2 \mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O}(g)$$ Complete the table with the appropriate masses of reactants and products. If the mass of a reactant is provided, fill in the mass of other reactants required to completely react with the given mass, as well as the mass of each product formed. If the mass of a product is provided, fill in the required masses of each reactant to make that amount of product, as well as the mass of the other product that forms.
