Top 5 scholarships to apply to

Are you a high school student getting ready for college and looking for ways to fund your education? Scholarships can be a great option to consider! In this blog post, we will introduce you to our top 5 scholarship recommendations that you should definitely apply to. Each scholarship listed below offers fantastic opportunities and financial support. So, let’s dive right in!

The Fulbright Scholarship Program

Named after the program founder, J. William Fulbright, this program offers a variety of awards for students eager to have a global impact. This program chooses students based on academic merit and leadership potential and provides them with the opportunity to teach, conduct research, or give lectures while living abroad. Furthermore, the scholarship covers the cost of roundtrip transportation, living costs for the full length of the service term, allowances for research materials, medical benefits, and more.

These scholarships are extremely competitive but, they have programs available for students interested in STEM, language arts, social sciences, and more. To get started head over to their site and take a look at the current available scholarships!

National Merit Scholarship

The National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP) is an annual academic competition that began in 1955. Students looking to enter the NMSP must take the PSAT/NMSQT exams and meet other entry requirements. Once students begin the competition they’ll engage in several rounds of testing with the highest scoring students moving forward to future rounds. By the end of the competition the NMSP will award scholarship awards to about 7,500 students.

The baseline award is $2,500 but high schoring students have the opportunity to win upwards for $10,000 in rewards.

The Benjamin A. Gilam Scholarship

Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship provides students in underserved communities the opportunity to study or work abroad. To be eligible students must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant. Once proven, applicants will write essays, send their transcripts, and work with selected advisors to review and submit applications. If chosen students will have their travel and living expenses covered by the scholarship as they gain international study or intern experience.

BigFuture Scholarship Awards

BigFuture takes their approach to scholarships a little differently than other programs. Their scholarship doesn’t require essays or a GPA minimum. They ask applicants to complete a series of different tasks on their site for a chance to enter. These tasks include researching careers on the site, building lists of colleges and scholarships, completing FAFSA, and more. Each task enters you into the running to win anywhere from $500-$40,000 in scholarships. The more tasks you complete, the more entries you have. If you don’t win one month your name and entries will be rolled over into the next month for a chance to win.

This is a great opportunity for students because just by passively researching colleges or scholarships you’ll be entering into a scholarship!

The Wrap-Up

In conclusion, scholarships are a fantastic way to support your college education while pursuing your passions and interests. Whether you excel academically, engage in community service, want to travel abroad, or more, there are scholarships available to help you achieve your goals. Take advantage of these opportunities and apply today! Remember, every scholarship application you submit brings you one step closer to fulfilling your dreams.

Happy scholarship hunting!
