Winter Break: Not Just for Snoozing in Pajamas (Though That’s Cool Too)

Winter Break ideas for students in high school and college

Winter break is around the corner! We’re excited, we know you’re pumped, and if you’re spending your time reading a blog post on an educational learning platform then know we’re SO proud of you. We just wanted to offer up some suggestions on getting the most out of winter break!

Recharge Your Brain

A great way to start is by engaging in activities that will stretch the creative side of your brain! You finally have time to get away from the academic and explore some new (or old!) creative outlets. Whether it’s coding, painting, writing, etc, the most important thing is that it’s fulfilling for you!

Additionally, find some time to sleep in because we know that exams are a leading cause of sleep deprivation for students. Unplug the alarm clock, close the blinds and let yourself be lazy, after all, you’ve earned it!

Start Keeping a Blog

A great way to keep your literacy, writing, and communication skills sharp is to spend a few minutes each day recording your thoughts and experiences in a blog. There are plenty of resources online to refine your blog process such as HubSpot and Medium. Even if it’s waking up, writing “Today I slept and it was everything it could be, now I’m going back to sleep in the middle of writing this sent…” and then immediately getting more well-earned rest! Not only does it remind you that your time is valuable but your future self will definitely appreciate the insights and humor of current you.

Even better, you can then use your blog to talk about the experiences that you might discover through this blog post!

Level Up Your Skills

During winter break you could always sneak in some learning! Wait! Don’t go!

There are plenty of apps out there that are great for bite-sized education that only take a minute or two! Here are a few of our favorites:

  • Numerade Mobile App: What did you expect? It’s our site, our blog, and we’re real proud of our app! Not only can you use it for instant homework help but you can also create custom practice quizzes and more!
  • Duolingo: If you haven’t used them, yes they are the ones with the fun and sometimes scary green owl urging you to maintain your learning streak. They are so incredibly helpful for learning new languages in brief, gamified 1-2 minute activities, we can’t recommend them enough!
  • Lumosity: This app is a great way to improve your memory and information retention and recall! Using interactive games you can keep your brain sharp as well as learn more about how it works.

Relax and Recharge

We know we probably don’t have to tell you this but take time to pamper yourself! You deserve it! Order pizza, have fun game nights with friends, indulge in an all-day streaming binge, whatever brings you joy, go for it!

Additionally, make time to see your friends and socialize! We guarantee you’ll have way more fun talking about things that actually interest you instead of “I’m real nervous for this exam…”.

The Wrap-Up

Remember, winter break is your time to recharge, reconnect, and just relax! Keep in mind that these suggestions are exactly that, by no means are they the only way to enjoy your break. As long as you enjoy what you’re doing then you’re doing it right!

Meanwhile we hope your exams are going well! Don’t forget, we have instant AI study help and more on Numerade!
