What do you think is a good immigration policy for a nation? What guidelines would you use in setting up such a policy? What do you think would be a just reform of immigration policy and a just U.S. Foreign Policy?

Problem 2

The Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that there was no "constitutionally adequate reason" why samesex couples should not enjoy the same legal rights as others. Opponents of that rule say that it will destroy traditional heterosexual marriage. On what do they base that argument? What do you think are the pros and cons of same-sex marriage?

Problem 3

In group discussion, name several social identity groups that you think influence people's lives. This could include race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, physical ability, religion, age, and any other. Identify where you fit in those groups in a notebook. During class discussion, share this information to the extent that you feel comfortable doing so. Discuss how (or whether) people are oppressed, or feel oppressed, because of their social identity. (No one should feel under any pressure to share personal information.)
