This video says an integer is a positive or negative whole number but then it says a whole number has to be positive so how is -7 an integer if an integer is a whole number? And how can it say an integer is a positive or negative whole number if whole num

Using Models Use the model given to answer the questions about the object or process being modeled. The portion of a floating iceberg that is below the water sur- face is much larger than the portion above the surface. The total volume $V$ of an iceberg is modeled by $$V=9.5 S$$ where $S$ is the volume showing above the surface. (a) Find the total volume of an iceberg if the volume show- ing above the surface is 4 $\mathrm{km}^{3}$ . (b) Find the volume showing above the surface for an ice- berg with total volume 19 $\mathrm{km}^{3}$ .

we're being asked to classify the given real number. So when you're asked to do this, you wanna pick all the different categories that it would work for. So remember, are different types of numbers are rational, irrational, an integer ah, whole number and a natural number. So let's start with negative seven. The first thing we have to determine is, Is it rational or irrational? It definitely can't people, but it's because we know it's really it has to fit into one of these will remember. A rational number is any number that could be written as a fraction Well, if we take negative seven and write it over, one negative seven, divided by one is still equal to negative seven. So because we can write it as a fraction, that means it is a rational number. And because it's a rational number, it automatically cannot be an irrational number now, because it's a rational number, we have to see if it fits into the other categories. So the first thing is is an integer well, is negative seven. A positive or negative whole number? It absolutely is so negative. Seven would be an integer, and because it's an integer. We can keep looking forward. So then the question is, Is the whole number will remember. Whole numbers have to be positive. And because our number is not as negative, it cannot be whole. So then the other question is, Is it natural? Well, remember two ways to know this. Answer one, because it's not a whole number. It can't be natural because remember every natural numbers, the whole number and the fact that natural numbers CalFed also have to be positive. So we automatically know it also would not be a natural number. Therefore, what with determined is that negative seven is on Lee a rational number, and it is also an integer, so that would be how we would classify it.
