So in this example, we're being asked to solve the given inequality. And then we're going to draft the solution set on the number line. So we're given the inequality eight is less than X minus nine. So remember, solving in the qualities is just like solving an equation. The first thing we need to do is isolate are variable. So to get X by itself, we're gonna add nine to both sides of her inequality because negative nine plus nine is zero. So these terms cancel out well, eight plus nine is 17. So we're left with 17 is less than X. So now we've solved their inequality. Remember, we also need to graft the solution set on a number line. So we're going to set up our number line. And remember, we don't need to put all the numbers up till 17. We can just put our critical number 17 right here in the middle. So now the first thing we need to dio is determined whether this should be an open circle or a close circle. Well, it's 17 of solution. No, it's not. It's saying that 17 has to just be less than next, not equal to it. So we're gonna have a open circle here at 17. Now, notice in this case, that X the variable is on the right hand side of our inequality Will remember, we can flip it around. So that way it's first. So if we were to do that and have the XP 1st and 17 the second, notice how the mouth of the inequality is open to the X. So we also have to flip our inequality sign to state that. So, really, we have this Inequality X is less than let me put that X back there. So we really have this Inequality X's lessons or sorry, greater than 17. So if we're wrapping us on the number line, we ever the number is greater than 17 b. Well, they would be to the right of 17. So on our number line, we're going to shade in the number line to the right of it. So now we have graft. A solution set for X is greater than 17
