Thin Film Interference - Example 1

Thin-film interference is the interaction of light waves reflected from the top surface of a thin film with light waves reflected from the bottom surface. The reflected waves combine to form a pattern of light and dark bands (or fringes) called an interference pattern. The thickness of the film is often on the order of the wavelength of light, which means that the film thickness is much smaller than the separation between the light waves. Thin-film interference is one of many optical interference effects.
