My name is Ali Soave and I am currently a high school Algebra I and Geometry teacher in Santa Ana, California. I have been lucky enough to have been teaching for 10 years and strive to continuously find new ways to teach all levels of students.
Unlike many of my colleagues, I do not come from a Math background. I graduated with a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Educational Administration. My love for math began when I was a tutor in college. I realized how satisfying it was to teach a subject many students saw as difficult. I loved to see the "lightbulb moment" when a student's effort paid off and they understood a concept. Since I did not get a degree in Mathematics, I had to pour all my extra time into mastering Algebra I and II, Geometry, and Calculus in order to earn my certification to teach. I did this for free by watching online videos and finding problems to practice. That is why I am so excited to be on the Numerade team! I feel it is my duty to pass along my knowledge to other students, many of whom may be in the same situation as I was.
When I'm not teaching, I am enjoying life with my wonderful husband Michael (also a teacher), my young daughter Stella, and cat Scout. We love to travel, spend time with family and friends, and spend time outside.
I hope you find my videos helpful and I wish you luck in all your Math-y endeavors :)
