MEMORANDUM
DATE: April 15,2021
TO: Chief Executive Officer
FROM: Chief Revenue Officer
SUBJECT: Pricing and Distribution of Covid-19 Vaccine
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has hit our country very hard and it is a relief that
finally our company has been able to develop and manufacture the Covid-19 vaccine. While this
comes as a welcome relief majority of the population are anxious about knowing the cost of the
life-saving vaccine. Being fully aware of the time, cost, energy, and sacrifices that have been
made during the research and development of the vaccine I would recommend a price of $ 15 per
dose. I will also recommend that the doses should be first distributed to the frontline work then
the elderly before considering other citizens. The choice of reducing the price the vaccine is due
to the poor state of the economy, high unemployment, and the fatality rate of the Covid-19. There
has plight by religious leaders, governmental officials, and citizens to make the price of the
Covid-19 vaccine affordable.
I arrived at this suggestion considering that our company is driven by values of honesty
respect for the community, trust, and fairness. Baron (1996) argues that although ethical
behaviors may not generate profits in the business unethical behavior results in losses in the long
term. It is therefore prudent for the company that our company look beyond its interest and come
to the rescue of the society as it is in line with the company's goal, culture and value system.
Being a medical company, we have a responsibility of saving lives and this is a time
when we are needed the most to perform that task. During this era consumers of our products are
becoming increasingly aware of the importance of corporate social responsibility and they would
purchase products from companies that involve themselves in the wider issues affecting society
Reducing the price of the Covid-19 vaccine to the level that the government would be able to
purchase enough drugs for everyone in the country will bring many benefits to the company
including but not limited to increased customer engagement, save cost, market our brand, more
benefits for the employees, improved public image and advantage over competitors.
Brennan (1992) argued that an action is morally right if it results in the greatest amount
of good for the greatest amount of people affected by the action. The choice of minimizing the
price of the Covid-19 vaccine is morally right since a majority of the citizens are going to benefit
from this action. In emphasizing the important situation the company is in (Aristotle in Ross and
Brown, 2009) Clarifies that Moral virtue is an acquired state of character disposing us to feel and
to choose to act appropriately it will be therefore wise to say that this is the right time to show
our companies real character and that will only be achieved if we become fair to the society by
not raising the price of tissue in a time that members
