Module Five Question 1
a. Was this TED Talk engaging? Did you want to keep listening? Why or why not? b. During the presentation, did you ever feel lost or confused? Did you understand the technical concepts that Sabeti presented when explaining her work? c. After listening to her talk, do you feel personally connected to the issue? Does her work affect you? Why or why not? d. Discuss at least one potential drawback of Sabeti's approach that you want to see her address in future presentations, publications, or research.
It was interesting and yes I would have wanted to know more about it. The story she gave was intriguing and it caught my attention. I did not feel lost or confused at all. I could understand the concepts that she was presenting. She made it easy to understand even though you are not in that field. I would say I definitely feel convicted to participate or give something towards the research. The way she presents it makes you feel compelled to be part of something bigger and to think of things bigger than yourself. I think some more data and research of numbers would be nice to hear. She did give a few but I think to go into the nuances of the data would be a great way to go.
Module Five Question 2
Who is the audience of Pardis Sabeti's TED Talk? Focus not only on the audience shown when the camera cuts away from the stage but also on Sabeti's message and how she chooses to present this message. Who does it seem like she's talking to? What evidence do you rely on to help answer this question?
I saw a lot of women in the crowd. Considering its a health related TED talk I would assume that she is talking to a lot of Nurses and Doctors. The audience is also those who are watching the video like myself.
Module Five Question 3
How does Pardis Sabeti tailor the message of her presentation to her audience?
She does a really good job of keeping the audience engaged and listening to her presentation. With the audience being predominantly women, she does a good job keeping them all listening to her with her powerful emotional stories.
