There is a song by the band 10cc that is titled "Clockwork Creep" (The Orchard Enterprises, 2022). It tells the story of a bomb that is hidden inside of an airplane from the bomb's point of view. Throughout the entirety of the song, there are a remarkable number of instances of word paintings. Simply taking a look at the song as a whole creates a sensation of anxiety because it goes at a rapid pace and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is consistent with the concept due to the fact that the bomb is present. There are numerous word paintings scattered throughout the song, and one of the most prominent ones is the line "tick a tick time bomb." It is sung by the performers in a manner that is reminiscent of the sound of a bomb going off. This phrase is heard for the first time in the seventeenth second, and it is there for the entirety of the song. Next, immediately following that, at the twenty-second mark, the lyrics state, "I am a jumbo jet." I feel like we've gone from seeing the bomb to seeing the jet. At this point in the song, it seems as though the plane is communicating with me through the speakers that are installed in the plane. You know how there's this one distinct sound-almost mechanical, muted-when you listen to an airplane pilot? This persists for a period of ten seconds. Somewhat impressive word painting! The lyrics state that "our time is running down, down, down, down, down" at the 43rd second of the song. As you could have anticipated, the notes of the melody become lower during this section! After that, the song's melody increases as the word "up" is spoken at the one-minute mark in the video. Next, at exactly one minute and six seconds, the lyrics are repeated once more while the notes are also sung down. At one minute and thirteen seconds, the melody begins with a high note while singing "ooh," and then it drops to a low note with the words "the gravity of the situation." That note seems to have been dragged down many steps by gravity. It appears like the plane takes over the communications again between 1:50 and 2:15, gushing about how awesome he is, how safe he is, and how perfectly he lands. During this portion of the song, the sweetness of the melody increases. In the final portion of that section, there are imitations of bird whistles, but it does not have the pressure that the ticking noises do, nor does it contain any harsh and quick rhythms. The plane is completely unaware that there is a bomb aboard. By the song's conclusion, the camera pans back to the bomb, which insists that he must maintain his date in order to detonate.
