Appreciation and History of Music

In my opinion, I believe that American music is altered from European music because America is relatively new in contrast to all the other countries in Europe. American nationalism music or, art music, is more recent from the popular music genres. Most of the modern music genres were created in the US and became widespread because of the US media as well as global influences and successes. Genres such as Hip-hop, Rap, Disco, Rock and many others were founded in the United State and became popular around the world. Dvorak's symphony, From the New World, is generally more powerful and seamless for a time of war and nationalism as it was proposed. The symphony Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition is really pleasing to listen to because it's less chaotic than the other 2 symphonies. All the instruments play really smooth with each that it articulates pride and nationalism. I believe that Dvorak's From the New World symphony is the best notable out of all 3 pieces. I can always identify it after listening to it for few times unlike the other two pieces that share a similar style from many other classical music. A piece of music that I believe well depicts America would be US National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, written by Francis Scott Key and composed by and hard for our America during the war. By the time it was all over with, the flag was still flying high. Many different instruments can be played for this song, but most commonly is Flute, piccolo, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, saxophone, trumpets. trombones, euphoniums, tuba, snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, violins, viola, cello, and string bass. This song is so versatile and can be basically played on anything. You can see and hear the different ways the song is sung and played in each of the two videos below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N ICmBvYMRs Here you can hear all the instruments with song from Whitney Houston. In the next one, we have Lady Gaga who is only singing with piano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjbolhVVCY
