The song I chose for this assignment is "Thank You for the Music" by Abba. It took me a while to decide on what song to post and write about. I was pre y indecisive, but was listening to Abba today and no ced how much I like the bridge, which is part of this discussions prompt! I think the bridge works very well here. It gives a break from the repe on of the melody in the verses and chorus. It also gives a break in the tone. The chorus is pre y happy and upbeat, and then the bridge is s II happy because of the lyrics, but the rhythm and tone is a bit more serious. This makes the lyrics in the bridge more believable, like she really means what she is singing. Now, I think that bridges are included in popular music for the same reasons. They give breaks to the repe on and can help elaborate on the story being told in the verses and choruses. Bridges are also there to extend the song a bit. Baroque music does not include bridges because they relied on ornamenta on. The ornamenta on is what told the story by adding notes, changing rhythms, and other things such as trills. In the very beginning of the song, we have therst verse:
First verse: 0:00 Then the chorus starts at 0:48 The melody repeats but with di erent lyrics for the second verse at 1:22 The chorus is then repeated at 2:00 Once that chorus is over, the bridge begins at 2:35 Then to nish o the song we have the nal chorus at 2:56

of how naturally it just comes in. The form is very organized and repe ve. It is important so that the song has an order, and there can be a natural ow to the music. Strophic form is s IIl popular in today's music because of how it leads the listener through the song. Kind of like a
