Ethical Decision-Making Framework in Business

1 Test or framework. The text or framework I have selected from the textbook is the WH process of ethical decision making. The WH framework guides the employees in the decision-making process to determine who the choices they are making effect. The W in the framework makes up the who, consumers, owners or investors, management, employees, community, and future generations. The H in the framework is made up of how the decision will be carried out, through public disclosure, universalization, or the golden rule. There are advantages and disadvantages when implementing ethical framework into your business. The company was made to generate profit and if an ethical framework is implemented then profit isn't the only factor. Ethical framework comes with hours of training staff to teach and merge this into their current strategy. Labor hours would be allocated or added in need to change and enforce this framework. The advantages could out way the disadvantages because the framework gives your employees a better understanding of your companies needs and the direction your company is moving toward. Providing your customer with better service will provide your customers with a better experience and display a positive image on your company. Following this strategy in the longer term could grow your business larger than it currently is and in turn make more profit. Why I believe the framework is appropriate for this company is because without it your employees are making decisions that in the end will cost you your customer base and business. Your company and reputation are at risk without my framework because on your website you say, "We are committed to keeping customer information secure and protected", in which you are not by not informing them. Every second that passes since the breach, your customers information is not secured and protected. 2. Apply the test or framework. Steve could have used the framework to guide his decision making and actions the first second he knew of the breech. The framework is a process identifying who the decision would affect. Following the framework Steve would identify the stakeholders that would be impacted or affected by the information stolen. The employees, suppliers, customers or all three can be impacted by the decision. Under my framework Steve would have identified specifically who the parties were that were impacted by that decision and perform an evaluation of what the best outcome would be. Next is how we deliver the message as a company because we have already identified who it effects but we need to determine the framework to guide how we make the decision. We can use several different approaches like using the golden rule, universalization, or public disclosure to guide us to an ethically proper decision. I believe the company would use the public disclosure option because we must look at how our actions affect the community. How I see it, our customers are with us because we vowed to keep their information safe and giving them the information as soon as
