Business 206 Project Two Rhonda Garza REPORT Business Law and Ethics-standards for morally right and wrong conduct in business. By Definition, business ethics refers to the standards for right and wrong conduct in business, principles of governing and individual or a group. Humans have an obligation to decide type of honesty, loyalty and integrity they will allow to be conducted in their business. Ethics is standardization of behavior and laws that are regulated to our conduct. Companies have a responsibility to society to incorporate a culture of ethics into the hiring process. This process helps companies to motivate their employees. This helps to ensure that employees perform their job with integrity. Majority of companies have ethics programs incorporated in their hiring process and ensure that it will touch on all aspects of the business. This kind of strategy will keep the organization socially and morally responsible. It helps employees to obey laws and protect the company and society while working. If a company understands and knows what the impact of their choices has on the reputation of the company and on society, then we can count on them to make good choices. Mountain Top suffered a breach of data, where customers personal information was taken. The acquisition of the private material compromised the security of your company, and not reporting the breach has put the reputation and integrity of this company in jeopardy. This was a theft of private information and should have been reported to the proper authorities and your customers should have also been informed. The General Data Protection Regulation, states the data controller should notify the authorities without delay within and no later than 72 hours. This company failed to notify anyone and can be held liable due to being the sole proprietor. The stakeholders rely on each employee to conduct
business appropriately with ethical choices, as those choices affect their interests. The IT department failed to report this issue and due to this it also violates the website mission statement. This can cause your business to lose credibility and will affect the company in the long run with customers' trust. Customers will be upset and not spend income due to this loss of privacy of their information and then to not inform them shows a lack of ownership and care for their information. The Data Notification Act states that you are to immediately notify your customers without delay within 30 days, unless the FTC grants an extension. Once you communicate with your customers about the situation, you should revise your reporting procedures and share all this information with your owners and stakeholders. By taking ownership of this situation and showing transparency, it shows integrity. Your customers will appreciate this and continue to believe that you're are a reliable company. Communication is imperative with everyone including the customers, and it helps to minimize the negative impact of the breach. Technology have revolutionized how companies are doing business. They have created software and multiple techniques to help businesses
