2 Test or Framework The test I choose is the Public Disclosure Test. The public disclosure test is sometimes called the "television test", it requires us to imagine that our actions are being broadcast on national television (Kubasek et al., 2020). The public disclosure test helps your reasoning by raising though questions that might be avoided otherwise. Public Disclosure has its advantage for a business accountability, responsibility, maintaining trust in clients and stakeholders and reputation. The disadvantages are revenue loss, loss in trust in clients and stakeholders, and possibly lawsuits. If Steve would have notified Carlos and Clare of the breach of customer information right away, they could have been able to prepare a press conference to inform the public of the problem that occurred and informing the public of the importance of Mountain Top fixing the problem quickly. It is important that the public hears first from the company about the problem and not from someone else. I believe if Steve would have used the disclosure test and seen the benefits it could have made to the company versus not saying anything at all and making it seem like you are hiding something. If Steve would of taken the test he would of seen that letting Carlos and Clare know as soon as he found out about the problem would have been beneficial for not just himself but for the company.
