Corporate Social responsibility is when a business makes extra effort to improve its local
community, the economy, the environment or any other social cause that is meaningful to them.
Toms, in my opinion, is an exceptional business. Their business is based off social
responsibility, they set the bar. After investing a / of profits for Grassroots Good, a leader in
community organizations, they still focus on sustainable resources . Toms, skips the savior
complex and leaves the funds they provide up to the community on how it could be best used
Toms' idea focus is on mental health, increasing access to opportunity, and ending gun
violence. As for sustainability, they acknowledge the carbon footprint they impact and attempt
to decrease it. "We aim to source 100% sustainable cotton by 2025. We make sure our
packaging is made with at least 80% recycled materials and we source 100% of our packaging
from sustainably managed forests." In addition to that statement, they claim to use100%
organic cotton, recycled cotton. As well as using The Leather Working Group (LWG) certified
leather manufacturing facilities based on environmental performance. "We source 100% of
our leather from gold and silver-rated leather manufacturers".
As for the Body Shop, I was disappointed. I felt like they did the bare minimum. This
new generation is searching for more from corporations. It's no longer enough to donate soaps
and used clean products. There are dozens of businesses who do both. For the Pet Supply Co
to stand out, you'll need to go above and beyond the social responsibility call of duty and
become creative how you may help your community. Large pet supply corporations hold pet
adoptions in stores to help local animal shelters with their capacity, as well as offer
fundraisers and donation bins. Some have promotions where you can buy a stuffed bear or
treat, and they'll donate it to the shelter. These are all fantastic, but bare minimum efforts
Perhaps you could offer a selection of ethically sourced treats, foods, and toys. There could be
annual seminars held at the pet store, explaining harmful foods, toxins, and toys to pets, to
encourage responsible pet ownership. It's not enough to just treat a problem, you should be
coming up with preventative measures.
