Research Problem Statement and Market Strategy for Maruti Suzuki

Journal Entry One Jena Watson QSO 500- 1-2 Journal: Research Problem Statement and Research Question Dr. Jay Johnson December 10, 2023 Journal Entry One 1-2 Journal: Research Problem Statement and Research Question The success of India's top carmaker Maruti Suzuki, a unit of Suzuki Motor Corp which sells one in every two cars in the country, has been built on having a wide range of products, low prices, a vast dealership network and an autonomous local team that can quickly react to market changes. (Shah, 2018) After reviewing the document, it seems that MSIL faced issues with their products due to complacency. This allowed competitors to offer alternative or improved offerings, leading to a loss of market dominance. To stay ahead of the competition, companies must conduct ongoing research and remain aware of evolving consumer preferences and needs. Proper research into consumer desires, geographic location, and competitor pricing can help MSIL remain competitive. Lower sales can also provide MSIL with an opportunity to research and introduce new vehicles that align with consumer needs and wants. Conducting comprehensive research before introducing new products to the market is crucial. This ensures that the products are competitively priced and meet safety and reliability standards when compared to their competitors. In addition, the company must have the necessary infrastructure to produce these new vehicles. MSIL is committed to sustainability and cost- effectiveness in the production of these vehicles. MSIL should consider expanding into new markets and developing new vehicles or improving their current models. Although Hyundai is currently their main competitor, MSIL has established a dominant position in India but not in the international market. However, if they focus on other potential countries, they could potentially compete with brands such as Honda and Toyota which are strong in large consumer markets such as the United States. After reviewing Journal Entry One both options of expanding in location and adding to their vehicle lineups, it would be beneficial for the company to research which would be more cost-effective and sustainable.
