Lowe's, which ranked No. 2 overall, led all companies in YouGov ratings with a 75% popularity score, 5% more than its largest competitor, Home Depot (Jackson, 2023) Lowes prides itself in meeting their customer's wants. . Lowes retains a strong Brand Portfolio to include Weber, DeWalt, LG, and many more. Lowes was able to boost their brand portfolio by re-evaluating the proprietary brands that lacked value for their customers and corporate goals. Lowes tackled this problem with the proprietary brands by either re-launching, consolidating, or eliminating, based on how well they met various business objectives, and sales goals, as well as how well they fulfilled customer needs (Lowe's, 2023). · Lowes offers diverse marketing and merchandising by catering and meeting the different requirements of their diverse customer base. They accomplish this by setting up how-to clinics for the aspiring do-it-yourselfers. Lowes is a family-friendly environment you can bring your little ones to partake in the Kids Clinic on the weekend completely free where the kids can feel like mom and dad building with tools and keeping their projects. Lowes also adopted a staple from fast food restaurants by incorporating drive-through lumber and outdoor garden centers. · Lowes's delivery network consists of. a well-established distribution network that includes 15 U.S. regional distribution centers in which products are moved from vendors to either stores or customers directly. As for the movement of cargo to contractors like lumber, concrete, or flooring Lowes also operates 15 U.S. flatbed distribution centers. 3 Tapia Final Capstone Assignment Between the regional and flatbed distribution centers, 65% of Lowes merchandise that is purchased is delivered through this network. Weakness · While in the US, Mexico and Canada Lowe's is a staple home improvement store they lack physical outlets overseas. While their products may ship globally, they lack a global presence. · While customers share their loyalty to Lowes, Lowes also shares their loyalty to specific brands as well. However, some of these brands will sometimes come with a negative stigma regarding recalls for defective products that may cause physical harm. · Growth is slow within the company, and any bottom-line Lowe's achieves is at the expense of its staff's satisfaction (Fatima, 2023). A high staff attrition rate, the lack of innovation, and seemingly no plans to expand all seem to be standing in the way of Lowe's long-term survival (Fatima, 2023). Opportunities · Lowe's has competitively solicited a national cooperative contract with OMNIA Partners that meets state and local government requirements (Omnia partnership at Lowes, 2023).
