My sister was in a neighborhood a few blocks over from where I live to visit a friend she had not
seen in a while. She was about six months pregnant and decided since it's not far she would
walk. We live in a nice area our neighbors are grandparents very nice are to live in. She called
me and asked me to come get her because the baby was kicking her, and she didn't want to walk.
I head to pick her up and she is walking towards my vehicle and then an officer pulls up and gets
out of his vehicle. He proceeds to ask her name, where she was going, and who was she visiting
I ask the officer why he was asking her these questions and why did he stop her. He told us that
someone had been breaking into the house over where her friend lived. I asked what the
description was he could not tell me if the person was male or female if the individual was green
or purple. I then kindly ask is she being detained he said no so we proceed to walk away he then
grabs her arm. I asked the officer to not do that, and I asked for him to call his sergeant. My
sister at this point is crying because she cannot believe what is going on and that this man would
grab her for no reason. The sergeant comes and now he is talking to the officer and ask his what
was he thinking. He proceeds to tell us that whoever is doing this is climbing through the
window he tells us that the arriving officer is fully aware of this matter. The sergeant looked at
my sister and said there is no way she is climbing through the window with that belly we started
laughing. He told us to file a complaint against the officer if we felt the need to do so. In our
investigation this was not the first time this had happened he had been harassing other African
Americans around our neighborhood. We work hard to live the life that we have and to have
someone racially profile her because she was a black woman is pure nonsense that needs to stop
The officer requested a meeting with us. We sat down at this meeting with the officer, the
sergeant, and the mayor to discuss such matter. This was an eye opener on what African
Americans deal with every day. It was embarrassing to watch people drive by as this officer is
harassing us just because of the color of her skin. When we look at the Loden's Wheel I look at
internal and external. The internal was race and the external was geographic location. The officer
seen other Caucasian individuals out and he did not stop and talk to any of them to see if maybe
one o
