My "Comfort in Social situations" survey didn't really shock me at all honestly. I have always
been aware of my biases and have tried to overcome them. I truly believe that I am not a bias
person, after all being in the military has taught me a lot about overlooking something about
someone even if you do not like it in order to complete the mission. When it comes to race I went
to pretty much an all-white backwoods high school, but I still never looked down on someone of
a different skin color, I was raised better than that. On the gender sectioned I only found myself
uncomfortable in the situation where I greet someone, and I can't tell their gender. The only
reason it makes me uncomfortable is because I was always taught to address everyone as sir,
ma'am, etc. So, my instant reaction when I speak to someone is to say that. Being raised in the
south it is very hard to have to kick that habit. If I call someone by the wrong (pronoun) I guess
you would call it I would just simply apologize and move on. Sexuality section is another one
for me that makes me uncomfortable because I believe what the Bible says and also I believe that
you should be heterosexual which is what the Bible teaches. I believe my bias lines up with
Loden's Wheel pretty well. I have always been aware of my bias and I keep them in check as
best I can. I believe it will not affect my policing or any law enforcement job I may perform.
