2 Serial Murderer - Aileen Wuornos Serial Murder: Aileen Wuornos Demographic Summary: Aileen Wuornos was an infamous female serial killer that murdered several men between the years of 1980 and 1990's. She was born as Aileen Carol Pittman on February 29th, 1956, in Rochester Michigan although she grew up in Troy Michigan. Aileen was a 5ft 4in woman with strawberry blonde hair, and brown eyes (Biography.com Editors, 2023). Her childhood was horrifying to say the least. The only consistence she had in those beginning years was the abuse she endured at the hands of her parents, grandparents, and brother, which ranged from psychological, sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. Her father, a convicted child molester, died by suicide in prison. Her mother, unable to cope with the responsibility of raising children abandoned Aileen and her brother with their exceptionally abusive maternal grandparents. Her grandfather was a violent man who sexually assaulted and abused Aileen for most of her childhood and adolescents and her grandmother was an abusive alcoholic. At the young age of 14, Aileen would become pregnant and give birth to a baby boy in March of 1971, he was put up for adoption immediately following his birth (Biography.com Editors, 2023). After this she was forced to live in the woods behind her grandparents' house but eventually left that life to start a life of hitchhiking and prostituting to get by. In 1976 she met and married a wealthy man named Lewis Fell. The marriage was toxic and only lasted for 60 days. It was during this same year that Aileen's grandfather would commit suicide and her brother Keith would pass away from his battle with cancer. With the amount of trauma and abuse that Aileen endured by this point, her life started to spiral out of control which led to her life of crime that eventually turned into the murdering of 7 men and subsequent conviction and being given the death penalty. Aileen was executed by lethal injection on October 9th, 2002.
3 Serial Murderer - Aileen Wuornos Biological Factors: There are several biological factors that could have played a role in why Aileen turned out the way she did. She had lower than average intelligence which is one factor that can contribute to committing crime. Hereditary traits are also a factor and can pass down from family members. Looking at Aileen's father we can see that he was a violent psychopath who lacked remorse or empathy, had a high need for stimulation, and poor behavior regulation. Looking at her Mother, it can be assumed that she was most likely subjected to similar abuse by the hands of her parents, Aileen's grandparents. Aileen's grandmother was an alcoholic and if she drank heavily during pregnancy that could explain issues that her mother had. Which Aileen also battled with alcohol addiction. In addition to being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, Aileen showed signs of brain damage
