After reading the following case study, what role does the environment (e.g., friends, family, careers, education, socioeconomic status, etc.) play in behavior? In your opinion, is criminal behavior justified if the environment promotes, or supports, the behavior?
After reading this weeks' case study I can determine that the
environment someone is in affects their behavior. The case study cites that throughout history, criminals have been found to show similar
reckless and violent traits. This was believed so much that eugenicists
began sterilizing criminals for fear of their passing of criminal traits to their offspring, thus preventing the birth of more criminals. Studies have found genetics can make a person more prone to criminal activity, whereas their environment can push a susceptible person to act on their
abusive relationships, neglectful parents or major trauma (Joseph). I do not believe criminal behavior is justified by the environment but it can explain why the criminal acted the way they did. It does indicate that the person may need mental health care instead of jail time, so they can
toxic to those who have suffered mentally and emotionally.

After viewing the video Anne Milgram: Why Smart Statistics Are the Key to Fighting Crime, respond to the following question: In your opinion, should decisions be made based upon intuition and experience or based purely on data?
improve the criminal justice system. In addition, how is data used to predict interventions that may be needed?
After reviewing the video by Anne Milgram, I can conclude that decisions
should be made mostly using data but also using some of your intuition. Intuition stems from our biological need to protect ourselves from the outside world. For example, when you feel like someone is staring at you and they are, it is because we have those instincts. Our instincts can often tell of when a situation seems dangerous. However, it is not fully
reliable. Sometimes our intuition may be clouded or false. That is why it is important to back up any findings with statistics, not just theories. Statistics are more reliable, because they are backed by research, meaning they are much less likely to be false. Data analysis on criminals helps us to find them and stop them. This is because we now know the signs of a criminal based on the research that has been done. As research improves in the field, criminal justice will increase. This data
does have its limits because it can be considered unreliable due to the patient source. Also, we do not have data on everything and at times the
data we do have many be misleading in
