Topic Selection:
The reason I love psychology is because it is and will always be a fascinating subject/field. The mind is the most powerful, yet the weakest aspect of our bodies. If you believe you are sick, you mind will make your body sick. Your mind, if not trained properly will break easy as well. The minds of criminal, terrorist, sociopaths, and psychopaths have always fascinated me. Wanting to know and understand why they do what they do, and how to catch them doing it has always been something that have been trained in, and interested in. I have selected the topic of serial murders to further analyze and diver further into its depths.
Crime Type:
Frank Timmons has been label as a serial murder. "Serial murder, also called serial killing, is the unlawful homicide of at least two people, carried out in a series over a period of time." (Jenkins, 2018). Frank has long history of violent crimes, upon his release, he got into more violent crimes. Frank's crimes seem to be all be related to him having power over someone. From the robberies, sexual assaults, and the murders. All of his targets were of women some being down to the age of twelve. When Frank murdered his victims, he would snatch them from a public place and take them to a secluded location and shoot them in the head.
Motivational Factors:
Revenge and control seem to be Frank's motivational factors. Looking at Frank's childhood will give more of an insight into the issues dealing with Frank. Frank was the second youngest of 13, his father as verbally abusive, and alcoholism ran in the family. When Frank was 12, his mother died, but she was not really an active parent to him or her younger children. Frank's upbring fell most upon his sister Margaret. Margaret not only was unstable, but she was verbally and sexually abusive to Frank, and she has alcohol problems just like his father. In Frank's mind, women are the problem, and women are the issue. It was a woman, that was constantly raping him, it was a woman, that was mainly abusing him, it was a woman that took the power and control of his life from him. Not saying Frank is justified in his actions, but they are the root cause of them. Frank in his mind is taking back what was stolen from him, and he is using innocent victims to do it. The report stated a girl as young as 12 was raped and killed by Frank, this age also happens to be the age when his mother died and his abuse from his sister started to take off. Frank was not able to get revenge on his sister for the things she has done to him, but he can get revenge on the innocent women that he sees. As far as the statements from others, I tend to not listen to them as much. The ones closest to you have blinders
