The case I have chosen to do is the Frank Timmons, a serial murderer. Frank was born in
1964, and was the second youngest out of thirteen children. He comes from a divorced
household where his father was verbally abusive and alcoholism ran in his family. He lost his
mother at the age 12, though she was not active in his or his other younger siblings lives. SO he
was primarily raised by his older sister Margaret. Her stability was often questioned by the other
siblings and there were questions of sexual abuse. Margaret his caretaker had problems
maintaining a healthy relationship and stable employment, she also had a few suicide attempts
and was verbally abusive and suffered from alchohalism. Frank was good at sports in high school
and well liked but was known to be excessively rough, he did not graduate because he was
always working to make money for his family. His family was poor and mainly lived off of
government subsidies. He had a few run ins with the law him and his brother were arrested for
raping a young woman his senior year no charges were pressed and he was also arrested for
tresspassing later on, and charged with a dui the next year. His criminal activity did not end
there, when he was 20 years old he faced charges of abduction a women, raping her brutally and
bludgeoning her. He said that the raping was not her but then was sentanced 15 years for the
abduction and 21 years for robery. He served 13 years and got out on parole for good behavior
and then moved in with his wife, not far from where the crimes would occur. He was well liked
among his neighbors and although they were aware of his past they looked past it. He worked as
a construction worker. A year after his parole the serial murders began.
Frank obviously went through a tough upbringing his father wasn't always around, he
was verbally abusive and was an alcoholic, and his absent mother died when he was young. He
lived in poverty and had to work to ensure that they had money. Also, he allegedly suffered from
sexual abuse from his older sister who was his primary caregiver that he trusted not to mention
she was also verbally abusive and an alchoholic. I feel that If a person goes through a violent
upbringing in such an unstable environment with no stable father figure and living in poverty
then they are more likely to commit violent crimes. Frank did not have a stable life, he did not
have a good upbringing. He grew up in poverty and came by aggression easily. He tried to be on
a good path with sports but his need to try and support his family made him fail school which
was probably his final downfall, because at least with football he was able
